With the FARM TO HOME concept, Lavender Tihany products reach the home, from lavender cultivation, through distillation in Tihany and the creation of natural cosmetics in a local laboratory.

The Lavender Tihany Visitor Centre is home to one of Hungary’s most modern lavender distilleries, which is used to provide the high quality, trademarked lavender oil from Tihany, which is used in our natural cosmetics in our visitor laboratory. Our laboratory is also part of the visitor centre, where pharmacist and chemical engineer our products are made according to individual recipes.

The Tihany Lavender Oil Trademark guarantees that the lavender used in the products is grown on the Tihany peninsula and that the essential oil is produced in the local distillery using traditional methods. This quality recognition and protection is an important guarantee for customers that Lavender Tihany products are made using genuine, pure, locally sourced ingredients.

The Lavender Tihany Visitor Centre and the exhibition about the history of lavender can be visited every day of the year!

LAB

An important aspect in the design of our lab was to preserve the unique value that lavender has represented in Tihany since 1926 thanks to Gyula Bittera.

Preserving this historical moment, we used recycled wooden elements in our furniture that are almost 100 years old,

we use pharmacy laboratory equipment and objects that also bring back the old days, combining this with the modern style and technological know-how of the present day, so that we can produce locally made products at the highest possible level.

LAVENDER DISTILLERY

When we think of Tihany, the Abbey, echo and lavender are the first things that come to mind. The first lavender plants were planted on the peninsula in 1924, and a lavender distillery has been operating here since the 1930s.

After a 70-year break, the tradition will continue from June 2019, with a modern distillery set up in almost the same place as the old distillery.

See the Tihany lavender distillery, even in operation, and the visual workshop where local products, soaps and natural cosmetics are made using local lavender oil.
